Join us at our ASIS Connecticut Chapter meeting on Friday, March 27th for a panel discussion on "Law Enforcement Transition to the Private Sector". This panel will be moderated by Jim Bernier, CPP and will be headlined by four former law enforcement professionals who have successfully moved into executive and senior security roles. The discussion will focus on translating law-enforcement experience to corporate environments, certifications and education that matter, networking strategies, and practical steps to prepare for a second career.

Panel speakers: 

James “Jim” Bernier, CPP, Emergency Management Program Manager, Hartford HealthCare - Moderator: Jim is a security and emergency management leader with more than 30 years of experience across healthcare, corporate security, law enforcement, and military operations. He currently serves as the Emergency Management Program Manager for Hartford Hospital, overseeing preparedness strategy, regulatory compliance, and crisis response initiatives. A retired Captain from the Hartford Police Department, Jim commanded the Emergency Response Team (SWAT), Investigative and Patrol units. He is also a decorated U.S. Marine Corps combat veteran. Jim is a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and serves as the Law Enforcement Liaison for the Connecticut Chapter of ASIS International.

Tracey Gove, CPP, Senior Director of Corporate Security, Travelers Insurance - Panel Member: At Travelers Insurance, he leads comprehensive security strategy and operations for 30,000 employees across domestic and international locations. Previously, he served as Chief of Police for the West Hartford Police Department, Connecticut.  A Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and Certified Sport Security Professional (CSSP), he has served as adjunct faculty at several colleges and has published extensively on leadership, law enforcement professionalism, and organizational management in the FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin, Police Chief Magazine, and Law and Order.

Marc Lamberty, CPP, Director, Aviation and Cargo Security, GardaWorld Federal Services - Panel Member: Marc retired from the Connecticut State Police in April, 2015 after a 20+ year career. During his CSP tenure, Marc was a member of the CSP Bomb Squad and CSP Dive Team and worked patrol at Troop H, Troop L, and Troop W. Marc finished his career with the Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit investigating fire/explosion scenes and servicing as the FEIU subject matter expert for fireworks, special effects, and explosives regulations. Since retiring Marc has worked for MSA Security, G4S Secure Solutions, and currently for GardaWorld. Marc has built large explosives detection canine programs serving the largest all-cargo airlines, FedEx, UPS, and DHL, various corporate clients and professional sports teams.

Brian J. Gould, Director of Public Safety, Hartford Region, Hartford HealthCare - Panel Member:  Brian is the Retired Chief of the Bristol Police Department and currently serves as Director of Public Safety for Hartford HealthCare’s Hartford Region. With over 30 years in law enforcement, he led major investigations, oversaw policy development, managed personnel and labor contracts, and coordinated with local, state, and federal agencies. He previously commanded Patrol Operations, Professional Standards/Training, and the Central Region Emergency Response Team. Chief Gould has served on multiple state boards and committees, including the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association. A graduate of the FBI National Academy, he holds degrees from Eastern Connecticut State University and the University of Virginia, is the recipient of multiple distinguished leadership awards, and was proudly presented the Official Key to the City of Bristol.

Pete Bergenholtz, Director of Labor Relations and District Deputy Title IX Coordinator, Hartford Public Schools - Panel Member: Pete is the Director of Labor Relations and District Deputy Title IX Coordinator for Hartford Public Schools. He previously served as an investigator with the University of Hartford and spent more than 20 years with the Hartford Police Department, retiring as a Lieutenant where he commanded the Police Academy and the Northwest Zone. Pete is also a veteran of the U.S. Navy Submarine Force and has spent his career dedicated to public safety and organizational leadership.
